One of the most important investments in your life and health is health insurance. It protects you from high medical bills and allows you to receive timely medical help. Being uninsured is quite risky, especially if you have chronic conditions and serious illnesses that require special medical attention. Unfortunately, there are millions of Americans who do not have any insurance because it is too expensive for them, and they simply cannot afford it.
Fortunately, there is an affordable alternative that many people do not know about, or do not understand the details of it. It is Obamacare, an informal title for the Affordable Care Act. You can always contact us to know more about it.

Obamacare/ACA Health Insurance
Obamacare, or the Affordable Care Act, was signed by President Barack Obama on March 23rd, 2010, into law. 10 years later, it still remains the most comprehensive health care act in modern American history. Obamacare includes the following:
A guaranteed-issue provision, meaning that a person with pre-existing conditions cannot be denied coverage.
Subsidies that support low-income Americans and assist them in purchasing a health insurance plan.
A provision, according to which all health care plans must include free preventative services.
In general, Obamacare covers the following: hospitalization fees and expenses, emergency services, doctor's fees, laboratory services, pediatric care (including dental work and vision), maternity and newborn, rehabilitation services, ambulatory services, mental disorder treatment, and some others.
Affordable Care Act
As one of the biggest and most significant health care reforms, it has significantly affected the insurance market in the United States. It improved the quality of medical care and made it more affordable for different groups of people. The Affordable Care Act has the following benefits:
Better access to health care for various groups of the population
More opportunities and better financial security for the economic mobility of the country.
Prescription drugs became more affordable.
People with pre-existing conditions receive quality and affordable medical help.

What Is The Obamacare Open Enrollment Period?
The open enrollment period is the time every year when you can sign up for health insurance, renew your plan, or replace your current health insurance plan with a new one. The federal open enrollment period is 45 days long: it starts on November 1st and lasts until December 15th. For most states, including Florida, the timeline is the same.
The enrollment period is also the time to apply for subsidies that are available for people with certain medical conditions. The main purpose of the subsidies is to reduce out-of-pocket expenses.
As mentioned above, during the open enrollment, you can also renew your current plan and make certain changes, if you are not satisfied with your current plan completely. You have 45 days to decide whether the insurance plan you have still suits your insurance needs and your budget. If not, you may look for a better option. You can look for other options yourself or ask an insurance agent or insurance broker to help you.
Missing the deadline for the enrollment period might be a serious mistake. If you did not sign up for a plan by December 15th or did not make any changes to your existing plan, you will most likely have to wait until the next year when the new enrollment will start.
However, you may be able to sign up outside of the enrollment period if you are going through one of the following life events: marriage, new birth, divorce, changes in your income, or child adoption. If you are not sure about your life event, it is better to contact a qualified insurance agent who will be able to evaluate your situation.
