Fort Myers is considered to be the most favorite and happening tourist places in Florida and is also designated as the County seat of Lee County. It is considered to be the bridge connecting the Southwest Florida to the rest of the state hence is an important commercial center.

This rapid growth rate over the period of only two decades is currently way above the current average growth rate of 17.6 percent in rest of the cities of Florida.
The city derives its name from Colonel Abraham Myers and its foundation was led during 1830 when Americans build a fort in order to fight battles with native Indian tribes. The fort played an iconic role in deciding the outcome of the wars due to its connectivity with the waterways of the mighty Atlantic. During this time settlers, who were mainly cattle ranchers and blockade runners started to settle here.
Being a famous tourist destination Fort Myers has numerous places where tourists can hang out. Perhaps the most iconic places of interest are the houses of famous scientist Thomas Edison and of Henry Ford. Some other places of visit are:
